![]() As Haise, he used them for reading, but never for combat. On a side note, it’s quite worrying if Kaneki needs to wear glasses while fighting, as that would imply that his sight is getting worse. If Kaneki wasn’t wearing glasses, I don’t think he would resemble Arima half as much as he does now. While Kaneki’s are wider and more circular like Eto’s in contrast with Arima’s narrow, rectangular ones, the glasses are probably one of the biggest physical similarities between the two, even if they are different. He could also have become a high-ranking member of the S3 Squad as he apparently has subordinates, but who knows?Īnother similarity between Kaneki and Arima is the glasses. Haise was originally a member until he was transferred to the Q’s, but it’s possible that Kaneki could have gone back to Arima Squad having left his own Quinx Squad. In fact, all members of Arima Squad are issued with “the Arima Coat” (as it shall be known henceforth), so it could be that Kaneki is now affiliated with Arima Squad. Even the collar is near identical, so it’s safe to say that Kaneki is wearing the same coat as Arima, just in a different colour. As you can see, both wear a black turtleneck as well as a trenchcoat, the only difference being that Kaneki’s is black and Arima’s is white. him:įirstly, they are very similar in terms of appearance. I’ve always been a fan of Kaneki’s fashion sense and his latest Harry Potter look is one of my all-time favourites. Kaneki has his own memories as well as Haise’s memories now. There is also someone, either Haise himself or his inner-Kaneki, saying “Kill Arima.” I interpreted it as Kaneki “telling” Haise these words, but it really doesn’t matter who said it. Here, we observe the wild Haise in his natural habitat, going absolutely fucking nuts. While I do believe that Arima did grow to genuinely care for him and that his existence is/was a good thing for Arima, it is undeniable that Haise was created as a weapon of the CCG. I mean, this is the person who he believes to have killed Koma and Irimi, inflicted a massive amount of pain on Kaneki himself and then had him made into a “Quinque” named Sasaki Haise. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Kaneki hates the guy and wants him dead at this point. If he didn’t dye it and it grew back naturally, that would take, what, a month or two? I seriously don’t know how hair works.Īs for why he got rid of the white hair, perhaps it’s because it reminds him of his birthday buddy, Arima. I don’t think I need to explain that hair takes time to grow and unless Kaneki did a Juuzou and dyed it, all of his white patches have been cut and his natural black hair has grown back. It is worth noting that since :re 57 and the point at which we meet Associate Special Class “Haise Sasaki” at the end of :re 58, there seems to have been a timeskip. Our new and improved black-haired Kaneki is perhaps the most ruthless incarnation yet, having just politely ordered the extermination of some Aogiri fodder. Haise Sasaki in Tokyo Ghoul :re further confirmed my thoughts, being more akin to Kuroneki than Shironeki, and when his multicoloured hair turned more white than black, I interpreted it as a sign of Kaneki’s return. When I first met Shironeki in Tokyo Ghoul, I always thought that it was only a matter of time until Kaneki returned to his pure, black-haired state where he would be a stable individual who had accepted being both human and ghoul and would then lead the world to revolution. ![]()
